When you have applied for Financial Aid and you feel like you should have received more money, what do you do? What if you still do not have enough money for your child to attend their desired university? As a family we found ourselves in this situation. Our daughter wanted to attend a university that we were not able to pay for. If we took out all the loans that were required to cover the costs we would have been thousands of dollars in debt. We notified the admissions counselor of our concerns and she had us contact the Financial Aid Department at the university. They found more money for our daughter and she was able to attend. We did have to take out loans but it was much less compared to what it could have been.
This blog is an excellent resource on how to appeal a Financial Aid decision that was given to you. There are often funds available if you reach out to the university.
